Who we are
I love it when a client gets massive
exposure. It's a rush, really.
Joey Gill - a Storyteller at Heart
I first captured media attention at the ripe age of 8 (see the quote above) but it wasn't intentional, driven by a need for exposure. It came from a deep desire to communicate with others.
And in high school, I authored a weekly column in the local newspaper, the Temiskaming Speaker called "Teen Speak", something that ran for a full two years.
Working for the CBC, I had incredible exposure to the TV and radio worlds, eventually contributing to several CBC Radio programs as a documentary producer, including: CBC 'Sounds Like Canada', 'Definitely Not the Opera' (DNTO), 'Metro Morning' and "Dispatches' sharing stories ranging from the wolves of Algonquin Provincial Park, to the resurrection of drive-in cinemas.
I've had the privilege of working on several documentary and factual TV shows as a Producer, Director and Videographer ranging from CBC TV, Discovery's 'Daily Planet', Bravo, TVO and Bell FIBE.
What does this all mean?
I understand really well how to craft a story and how to pitch it. And over the last 20 years, I've built some solid relationships with media across Canada, thinking like an Assignment Editor or Segment Producer, the very people I'm engaging. I understand that media gets bombarded with PR folk pitching them on a daily basis, so I carefully craft something that I strongly believe they will be interested in, and in a persuasive, creative way.
And when the client gets asked to do a live TV or radio interview, I conduct media training, to ensure not only that they 'stick to message', but also speak genuinely and naturally.
People want to hear people sharing their stories.
I really love what I do.
